Business Groups created from vRO cannot be deleted from vRA 7.2 console

Hi,

I'm having problems with Business Groups that has been created using vRealize Orchestrator workflow "Library/vRealize Automation/Administration/Business Groups/Create a business group". The its creation, when I try to delete it from vRA 7.2 console, it throws the following error: "Another user has modified the current data. Reload the form, and then try again".

bgError1.jpg

And if I edit the Business Group and try to update it, it throws another error: "Path variable ID does not match entity ID from body":

bgError2.jpg

Even though, I can delete the Business Group using the appropriate workflow in vRO "Library/vRealize Automation/Administration/Business Groups/Delete a business group".

Any ideas?

Thanks a lot.

Just an hour after I wrote this message, I found the solution.

In the registered vRA Host, the tenant name was capitalized. I've updated the host with the tenant name in lowercase and now is working ok.

Thanks (and sorry)

Hi

We are facing same issue, and also noted we had tenants with caps, tho correcting the tenant name with lowercase havent solved this issue for us.

Can you elaborate a little more what you had to do?

My solution was exactly like yours. Tenants and Subtenants names are case sensitive. My solution was to put the tenant name all in lower cases.

Did you recreate the tenant, or rename it?

Our first hint of this was in the vRA plugin tenant name was shown with lowercases, from the workflow also the tenant name was lowercase.

We can manipulate the BG from vRO workflows but from vRA it gives the mentioned error messages.

Hi FrodoGarnes,

First of all, when you create a tenant, you enter a "Name" and a "URL name":

But, for the vRA API, the name of the tenant is the word you enter in "URL name".

I've check the Inventory > vRealize Automation and I've realized that the name of the tenant, in the VCACCAFE Host was Capitalized:

This was the source of the problem because the Workflow "vRealize Automation > Administration > Business Groups > Create a business group" takes the name of the tenant from there.

So the solution was to use the Workflow "vRealize Automation > Configuration > Update a vRA host" to update the VCACCAFE host and enter the name of the Tenant in lower case (to match exactly the "URL name" of the tenant.

Then check the inventory again (maybe you need to refresh the view)

and verity that the name of the tenant is in lower case.

This solves the problem. Now you can create Business Groups with vRealize Orchestrator and modify it in vRealize Automation console.

Hope this helps.
