Upgrade from vShield Endpoint

In our Environment we have used vShield endpoint with Kaspersky as anti-Virus engine since years. in the next weeks we have to upgrade our Environment to vSphere 6 or higher.

I have read the upgrade guide to NSX Endpoint carefully, actually it says that we have to upgrade our vShield Manager to NSX Manager.

Nevertheless i see a slight Problem, because we have an ESXi design with vSphere Standard Switches and vSphere Distributed Switches. Our Management and VMotion Interfaces are placed on a VSphere Standard Switch, all other portgroups are placed on the vSphere Distributed Switch.

Therefore the Vmkernel Interfaces for VShield endpoint are residing on the VSphere Standard Switch, too. I think that the NSX Manager can only manage the Guest Introspection VM´s if they are on the vSphere Distributed Switch.

My Question about this issue is, what should we do?

Is the NSX Manager working with Guest Introspection VM on the vSphere Standard Switch? Or should i migrate the vSphere Standard Switch to a second vSphere Distributed Switch?

Hi, you can use the Agent VM settings in ESXi host level and select vSphere Standard Switch PortGroup on every ESXi host.

Then when deploying Guest Introspection VM, choose "Specified on-host" for the Network
