Upgrading VMWARE Workstation 12 Player to 12.5

I have been using Workstation 12 Player and I want to upgrade it to 12.5

I downloaded VMware-player-12.5.2-4638234.exe and started installation.

I received the following message:

"This product installer does not support downgrades."

What does this mean? Is there a different installer to download? Must I uninstall version 12?

That's very odd - the installer should detect the existing installation and automatically uninstall it.

Have you verified the checksum of the downloaded installer file?  And are you running it "as Administrator"?

Thank you, running as Administrator did the trick!

I don't remember doing that when I installed the previous version but will remember it from now on.
