    Openfiler Appliance in VMware

    jahanzaib Novice

I am trying to understand Openfiler concept in VMware. But could't get the clear idea for using Openfiler as Appliance in VMware. Just get this below definition about the Openfiler.

"Openfiler is a browser-based network storage management utility. Linux-powered, Openfiler delivers file-based Network Attached Storage (NAS) and block-based SAN in a single framework. It supports CIFS, NFS, HTTP/DAV, FTP, and iSCSI".

      My Concern:

Do we need some External Hard-drive as USB or Network Connectivity to work with the Openfiler Appliance?

The datastore where you will deploy the Openfiler appliance should have enough space to provide room for what you want to share with other devices on the network, and of course you will need network connectivity with the Openfiler appliance, that will be needed not only for management purpose but for client access data stored on Openfiler appliance.
