NSX - Distributed Load Balancer

Is NSX Distributed Load Balancer functionality available in NSX version 6.2.2 ?

From which version this feature is being supported in NSX.

As far as I know it is still technical preview feature and not for production as per NSX Distributed Load Balancing - Getting Started Guide

DLB will currently stay as Tech Preview and no commitment on its production.

The missing pieces are the API/UI.

As you can see in the configuration steps, we're currently using a "hack".

I would be interested to hear from your use case (what application do you like to load balance with DLB - where are the clients / servers - traffic type and volume - etc).

Thanks,

Dimitri

Thanx Dimitri

I am in phase of designing the NSX LB deployment in our environment.

We have physical load balancer which we would like to replace with NSX LB. At this moment checking what is the best method of deploying the LB whether Inline or Proxy mode  ?

Also in phase of comparing what features in NSX LB is lacking from the features offered by BIG IP LTM.

During this came to know about DLB so was checking if add any benefits compared to inline or proxy LB.

@ddesmidt

Regarding DLB is there any updated details or information from VMware regarding their plan or road map to have this in production.

Distributed LB has scaleout benefits similar to Edge and DLR, so in order to increase the throughput of the Load Balancer, there is no need to replace the Physical Load Balancer. One additional benefit may be optimized packet flow as following topology: (This may have a huge benefit if microservices or container architectures are used)
