I need to put Two IPs from two different physical adapters on the same VM.

Hi there,

I have VMWare ESXi 6.0, running three CENTOS 7 VMs on it.  One VM has a private IP on it.  I need to keep the private IP because it needs to reach other IPs on the same private subnet.  Now, I also need to put a public IP on this same VM.  My network architecture requires that this will be put on a different physical adapter.

I have tried adding the new physical adapter to the existing VSwitch.  When I do this it breaks the existing connection.  I also set up a new Vswitch but I can't figure out how to add to add the existing VM to new Vswitch.

I'd be very thankful for any advice.

Mike

Welcome to the Community,

add a second virtual network adapter to the VM, and connect it to the port group on the other vSwitch.

Try following:

1. Right Click on virtual machine in inventory.

2. Select edit settings

3. Click on Add in vm settings window.

4. Select nick and click next

5. Choose the "vm network2" from list and choose E1000

6. Click next > finish and you are done.

Please confirm if that worked.

Cheers!
