Loading VM with WinPE - LSI SCSI driver not loading

    djflux Enthusiast

      Good day,

I'm trying to test out WinPE to do our system loads and I'm testing it first on a VM running on VMware Server.  I have the WinPE environment loading and I get the command prompt and the desktop, but when I run DISKPART it doesn't see the SCSI virtual disk.  If I add a virtual IDE drive, DISKPART sees it fine.

Looking in the registry, the symmpi (which, I think, is the virtual LSI SCSI card) driver has INITSTARTFAILED set to 1 in the Enum hive.

The WinPE environment is booting from the network and was built with PE2005 and Windows Server 2003 SP1.

Does anyone have any insight as to why the SCSI driver would not be loading?

If you need more information, please let me know.

      Thanks for your help,

      Flux.
