What if we do not make virtual hardware upgrade after esxi 5.5 to 6.0 updating . so esxi will be 6.0 and vm's hardware versiyon will be 8 .

If we can not make a hardware version. Is there any benefit to esxi update

Of course you will get a lot of benefits upgrading to vSphere 6 even without upgrade the virtual hardware version, because not all new vSphere features are dependent of virtual hardware version. Sometimes, upgrading the virtual hardware version will give you only increased virtual machine scalability, but if you don't need them, you can stay with your current hardware version.

VM will be running as normal  no impact .

The features of new virtual hardware cannot be used on these vms .

I advise to update the VM hardware also of VMs

1. Take a backu p/snapshot

2.Update the tools to latest version

3.upgrade the VM hardware
