Poor video performance on Workstation VMs - related to VMware tools

I am experiencing poor video performance which seems to be related to the version of VMware Tools.  I have excellent performance with version 9.9.3.2759765, but the performance drops way off when version 9.9.5.3735633 is installed. Is there a way to roll back to an earlier version of Tools?  Or possibly a setting that is incorrect for the new version?  Thanks

Thanks for the posting!

Would you please provide more information?

1. What Host/GOS and Workstation Version are you using?

2. Is the 9.9.3.2759765 bundled tools with the WS?

3. Where did you get the 9.9.5.3735633?

4. What's phenomenon of the poor video performance as you suffered? What application did you run to hit the issue?

Tracy,

Thank you so much for your reply!

1. What Host/GOS and Workstation Version are you using?

Win 7 Pro/ WorkStation version 11.1.4

2. Is the 9.9.3.2759765 bundled tools with the WS?

Actually I cannot really confirm this.  Most of the VMs were built with version 9 and I believe it had version 9.2.3.21136 on it??  or possibly it was one of the tools upgrades.  If I open the Vm with 9.2.3 and update the vmware Tools to version 9.9.5.3735633 it breaks it.  I notice it mainly with watching videos lag in the voice/video on the web.  And I know it is not the best benchmark but the window experience drops off form 6.0 to 3.9 or 4.2.

I also notice this with VMs I use at my work, they work fine with 9.9.3.2759765 but if I update to 9.9.5.3735633 it breaks also.

3. Where did you get the 9.9.5.3735633?

I am guessing it is an VMware tools update.

4. What's phenomenon of the poor video performance as you suffered? What application did you run to hit the issue?

See item #2.

Thanks again and I appreciate any input you can provide me.  Ultimately I would like to some how roll back to version 9.2.3.2759765 or 9.9.3.2759765.

John
