VMW 12.5.1, RHEL6.8 x86_64, glibc detected invalid pointer.

Hi everyone,

Ran into a few issues when I upgraded from 12.1.1 to 12.5.1 on RHEL6.8.

When the installer runs or when I start 'vmware', there are tons of glibc errors that show up:

*** glibc detected *** /usr/lib/vmware-installer/2.1.0/vmis-launcher: free(): invalid pointer: 0x00007fa5bbb061d0 ***

*** glibc detected *** /usr/lib/vmware-installer/2.1.0/vmis-launcher: free(): invalid pointer: 0x00007fa5bbb3b320 ***

I tried replacing /usr/lib/vmware/2.1.0 with the tree that came from VMW 12.1.1 and it made the errors go away.

I tried setting MALLOC_CHECK_=0 but it had made no difference.

I don't think replacing VMW's 12.5.1 /usr/lib/vmware/2.1.0 with that from 12.1.1 is a viable workaround as it might cause

other issues.

Is this being tracked?

Thanks,

Vincent

Hi ElCoyote_,

What's the kernel version and glibc version on your host?

Also would you please upload the installer log?

It's @/var/log/vmware-install

Thanks!

Hi,

Sorry about the late reply.

The kernel version was:

2.6.32-642.4.2.el6.x86_64

Where shall I upload the installer log?

Thanks,

Vincent
