Networking / Internet not working on linux install VMWare 12

Let me start by saying all was fine and working before I updated to version 12.5.0 build-4352439. The VM I'm running is "Oracle Enterprise Linux version 7"

From the latest previous version of VMware Workstation 12 Pro, I updated to,  VMware Workstation 12 Pro, version 12.5.0 build-4352439. Since then I have not been able to achieve internet access.

I have attached screen shots as described below which can also be accessed via the links.

I also have a windows 10 VM on here, that formerly did work.  Its error is "Network cable unplugged"...This is a VM, there is no cable.  The host PC, where VMWare 12 is installed, is working perfectly.

This all leads me to believe the issue is in #1 below.  I've had this happen before, and I did correct it in under 10 minutes.  The problem is, I do not remember what I did to fix it, being it was so fast n easy

to fix, I did not take notes thinking I'd figure it out again, If it ever occurred.

Please Advise, thanks James

Update:

Referencing pic VMWare_network_readd2.jpg, (From VMWare, Edit, VM Network editor, Change Settings (administrator),, I did a "restore to defaults"
see VMWare_network_readd2.jpg

http://www.aanning.com/ajissues/VMWare/network/VMWare_network_readd2.jpg

This originally installed 3 networks...going by the IP addresses in the below, and what I know the Linux VM is using (192.168.1.122)
I would have guessed it is needing and using the Bridged, and not the other two, being their IP are not in any ranges of my router.

All three) see VMWare_network_readd1a.jpg  I believe this is only visible from Change Settings (administrator)...that is confusing! I thought it got auto-removed.
http://www.aanning.com/ajissues/VMWare/network/VMWare_network_readd1a.jpg

Bridged) see VMWare_network_readd1b.jpg
http://www.aanning.com/ajissues/VMWare/network/VMWare_network_readd1b.jpg

Host only) see VMWare_network_readd1c.jpg

NAT) see VMWare_network_readd1d.jpg

I'm not sure how these got off during the upgrade, or this is possibly the quick easy fix I did not note (restore to defaults)

I see now there is yet another update to 12.5.1 build-4542065. I tested the above before and after this update..same results.
It does seem to be working not, I can get on the interned (google) and other IP functions are again working.

Hi, Janning:

Welcome to VMware community and thanks for your feedback.

1) Do you still hit the "have not been able to achieve internet access" issue when upgrade to VMware Workstation 12.5.1?

2) As to the "restore to defaults", it indeed will add three vmnets, becuase the default settings for Workstation has vmnet0, vmnet1 and vmnet8.

3) In addtion, i suggest you to use "vmnet0" as bridged network, not vmnet1.

Restoring to default resolved the issues on either version.  I left all 3 vmnets as is...did not change them, its working somehow automatically using bridged.

Are you saying I can remove the other two?

thanks, James

For WS12.5.1, you can remove vmnet1 and vmnet8, although we do not suggest to do that. While for WS12.5.0, there is a bug that the bridged network will be lost if you remove vmnet1 and vmnet8. Thanks.
