Use of newer versions of Eclipse for plugin development

I am getting back to plugin development (this time on a mac) after having been off on other projects.

I setup my development environment with Eclipse 4.2 (Juno) like I did before, seems like that (or 4.3) were what the instrucitons supported.  I was wondering if newer versions of Eclipse like 4.6 (Neon) are supported?  If anybody has managed to get the dev enviornment (with virgo and all) working with the newer versions, could they post or point to some instructions on how to do it?  If it has not been done, what are the factors that prevent supporting the development environment in more recent versions of Eclipse?

Thanks for any information.

hi Erik, welcome back to plugin development 🙂

We did try Eclipse Neon internally and it works fine for us.

The main change since last time you were active is the new HTML SDK that allows to build HTML-based plugins that are 100% compatible between the Web Client (Flex) and the new HTML Client.  We're about to release version 6.5 of that SDK along with vSphere 6.5 but we also have a Fling version of the SDK available at vSphere HTML5 Web Client

Check it out!
