Not sure where did you see that Red Hat 7 is not supported by vSphere 5.5 Update 2, but according the following blog, the support for RHEL 7 was introduced on vSphere 5.5 Update 1: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.0 - VMware Blogs

And the following link shows the same info from the compatibility guide: VMware Compatibility Guide - Guest/Host Search

The fact about you can't see the RHEL 7 on the vSphere Client may is due that fact that VMware only add new features on the vSphere Web Client since long time ago, so I will recommend you create the virtual machine using the vSphere Web Client and use the vSphere Client just for legacy features.

Hi,

Yes the Guest OS Install Guide indicates that RHEL 7 guests are supported by ESXi 5.5 update 1 but the strange part is RHEL 7 is not listed as a guest OS when building a new VM via vSphere Client. But if you go via web client you are able to see the same.

I built a RHEL 7 VM by selecting the 64-bit RHEL 6 guest OS from vSphere Client in my lab and have not had any problems?    You can try the same.
