Finding Orphaned VMDK Files - Best Method?

Hi guys,

Which would be the best and most uptodate method of finding orphaned files on datastores. I have used RVTools but not sure how accurate this is.

We are running vCenter Server 6.0.0.

Can you provide some insight i.e. free tools or methods which works for you / OR a script that might do the trick (I've tried a few older ones but they don't seem to work very well)

One other thing - my RVTools reports many zombie files and refers to these types of files - does anyone know more about these types of files and whether they can be deleted?

NameMessagevCenter UUID
*************-checkpoint-sesparse.vmdkPossibly a Zombie vmdk file! Please check.
*************-sesparse.vmdkPossibly a Zombie vmdk file! Please check.

Many thanks,

Travis

SeSparse vmdks are a new type of growing vmdks - they replace the previous type used for the same purpose for VMDKs larger than 2TB (if I remember right)
So do NOT delete sesparse vmdks just because of the type - that would get you in a lot of problems.
