12.5 on win7 x64: bridged network (VMNet0) is unavailable if neither NAT nor DHCP service is started

If the host boots with both vmware NAT and DHCP disabled/manual, bridged networking is unavailable

if either NAT or DHCP is started, bridged networking (VMNet0) starts working

bridged networking should not need NAT or DHCP service

This is a regression, 12.1.1 does not have this problem.

Hi, pcu2:

Thanks for your feedback, would you please try this workaround ?

Install WS12.5 and change the regkey:

##regedit

  Computer\HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\services\VMnetUserif:

     Start REG_WORD 0x00000003(3)

change from 3 to 0x00000002(2).

Finally restart your host

I went back to 12.1.1 so can't confirm this fix at the moment.  In 12.1.1 VMnetuserif is auto started, why was it changed to on demand in 12.5?  Will it be changed back to auto?
