Hi community,
I transferred a Windows 2012 R2 VM from one ESXi 5.5 to another ESXi 6.0 via scp.
The source works fine after this on 5.5 but the same thing on 6.0 is corrupt. The machine
starts with the selection of the keyboard-layout and will not find a valid operating system.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance
Torsten
have you copied all Files from Source to destination?
you have tried setting different boot disk in VM?
Does that VM has snapshot? if yes, try to delete snapshot and then copy vm again.
I had a same situation when I took clone the W2K8 VM.
Check boot device order in BIOS mode.
(If you have multiple vmdk)
No, there is no more snapshot, i removed it before transfer.
It is also not a problem of the boot order.
After starting up the VM, Windows starts with the keyboard selection option but will
not boot the main system. I tried the repair options; after then there is no operating system present.
I am despaired!
Try this:
I got the similar issue and once I changed my Controller type, it fixed the issue. Not sure with your issue. But give it a go and see.
i think its better to take a backup first and then restore it to ESXi 6 instead of useing SCP to copy it
for example veeam b&r. free edition can backup and restore
