Need VMware use only the D:/ hard drive for memory space?

I installed VMware workstation on my windows 8.1 operating system. I don't have much hard drive space on the C:/ drive that I us to install it with. I have a D:/ hard drive that has lots of space on the same computer I'm using. I want to have VMware use only the D:/ hard drive for memory space. Planing to install Ubuntu on Vmware and only want D:/ drivers memory used to install it. How do I do this? Could someone direct me to a tutorial page or something?

I'm new to VMware, little overwhelming want to make sure everything is installed correctly with having to re-hook it up again.

Welcome to Workstation community. I think you can change the default location for vm(Edit -> Preferences). then the new created vm will be saved in new location.
