I installed VMware Workstation 12.1 on my new Windows 10/64 system.
After installing Workstation, the virtual network adapters VMnet1 and VMnet8, resp., appeared in the list of network adapters to connect with:
How can I have these network adapters disappear from the list of network adapters to connect with?
Your help is appreciated.
As you may know, these network adapters represent VMware Workstation's Host Virtual Adapters for Host-Only (VMnet1), and NAT (VMnet8). These adapters are required in order to be able to communicate between the host and the VMs over the network. If you don't need this kind of network communication, you can disable these Host Virtual Adapters using the Virtual Network Editor.

Yes, I know.
In earlier versions of Windows/Workstation these network adapters had erroneously been visible, too:
How do I get rid of the VMware “Unidentified Networks” in Windows Vista and 7?
An excellent PowerShell script from Nivot Ink (referenced in the link above) set the virtual network adapters from "public" to "private" so they were hidden from Windows.
With Windows 10 they re-appear now, and I'm not confident they should - even though they exist.
