    Licensing. 2 vcenter, 6 host, 12 cpu = 2 Essentials Plus Kit?

    pub10 Lurker

With my question, I contacted the tech support VMWARE. They answered "you need to purchase vSphere Standard or Enterprise Plus by contacting Sales Team."

Then I called the Russian branch. +7 (495) 212-2998 - they could not answer , sent to 4952122900 - 11 am - nobody pick the phone.

      Now we have:

      - 3 host and 6 processors, 96gb ram

      - 1lic vSphere 5 Enterprise 6cpu

      - 2lic vCenter Server 5 Standard

      - i use HA, vMotion, DRS, vSphere Replication, FT, Storage vMotion

We want to put on our blade another 2 host with 4 processors & 128Gb ram

And configure a backup vcenter with replication. 1 host and 2 cpu.

Which is better to purchase a license to us?  $$$

VMware vSphere Acceleration Enterprise Kit 6 CPU? + Production Support.

Essentials Plus Kit?? + Production Support.

VMware vSphere Standard для 1 процессора * 6??? + Production Support.

My recommendation is buy new Enterprise Plus license, since you already have two vCenters licenses. And with Essentials Kit you will not be able to use FT and each vCenter is limited to 03 (three) hosts... so if you decide grow in the future you will need to get away from Essentials licenses.

An "Acceleration Kit" does not only contains licenses for ESXi hosts, but also contains a license for vCenter Server.

Can 2 Essentials Plus Kit work on 1 vCenter standart?

              from http://www.vmware.com/content/dam/digitalmarketing/vmware/en/pdf/whitepaper/vmware-vsphere_pricing-white-paper.pdf

vSphere Essentials and Essentials Plus Kits are self-contained solutions and may not be decoupled, or combined with other vSphere editions.

From what I understand, you are already running the production environment with Enterprise licenses!? So you may consider to license the additional hosts with the same edition. That said, VMware discontinued offering Enterprise licenses, so you may need to go with Enterprise Plus if you want/need e.g. DRS.

If you want to replicate VMs to another environment, you need at least an "Essentials Plus" license. However, since you mentioned that you already have a second vCenter Server license for the backup location, purchasing vSphere Standard licenses for this host might be less expensive than an "Essentials Plus" kit.
