Why vSAN does not use iSCSI, NFS, SMB ?

I'd like to understand what vSAN use to network fabric.

I read some articles related vSAN protocol. Is below true?

" VSAN does not use Fibre Channel, iSCSI or NFS. Instead, vSAN uses a proprietary storage protocol for transferring data between vSphere hosts on the vSAN. "

http://searchservervirtualization.techtarget.com/tip/Is-VMware-VSAN-a-good-fit-for-your-company

" Virtual SAN doesn’t directly support familiar storage protocols like iSCSI and NFS, simply because it doesn’t need to. "

https://blogs.vmware.com/virtualblocks/2015/06/23/ten-things-you-need-to-know-about-vsan/

Between node(ESXi) in vSAN seems are connected with ethernet. What is the protocol inside the ethernet? Not an iSCSI ??

Hope your kind answer Smiley Happy

Read The Friendly Manual

It spells out exactly what VSAN is. Or google it. Tons of blogs out there that explain it in great detail.
