when I start fusion 8, or startup a VM my whole wifi goes dead on my mac. when I kill fusion the wifi comes back

If you reboot, does the issue persist?
it fixes it. but then comes back later
Are you using bridged or NAT networking, and are you on a personal or corporate network?
Many business networks prohibit more than one connection per MAC address, and will kill the connection if you use bridged.
