Poor performance during PXE deployment on E1000E adapter, Windows 2012 R2, VMWARE 5.5 + MDT 2013

Hello,

We are currently automating our Windows server deployment.

We are having performance issues with the E1000E adapter.

We are deploying the servers with MDT 2013 (W2012 R2).

When using the E1000E it only utilizes about 1-2% of the adapter while using a E1000 adapter it's using 15-25% instead.

Both negotiates to a 1Gb connection.

I've added the drivers by taking them from a server with VMware tools and the E1000E adapter activated but it seems that it does not make any difference.

When i boot into the OS I get good performance, it's just in the PE environment we are having this performance issue.

Any ideas?

What do you mean with a fresh installation?

I've tried to deploy with and without the VMware drivers and it makes no difference.

I'm simultaneously deploying 5-6 machines and all with E1000E adapters shows the same issue.

I've now tested to change it to VMXNET3 adapter and that negotiates to 10 gb instead of 1gb as it does with E1000 and E1000E..

I'm also going to increase the scratch size and see if that boosts performance..
