Customize the Machine Prefix

in vRA machine prefix these are the options available

1. Prefix          2. Number of Digits          3. Next Number

QA                    3                                        1

with this example machine name would be qa001

One of my customer is looking for machine prefix in different manner qa001projectname something like this. Can it done?

Note:- I don't want to provide this option in the request form to type the machine name

Hello Ranjna,

The easiest way I can think of is to include the project name in the prefix instead of at the end

1. Prefix          2. Number of Digits          3. Next Number

QA-ProjectName                  3                                        1

The only other way I can think of would be to use a custom vRO workflow that reconstructs the hostname before deployment.

They don't want numbers at the end, they want project name at the end

Hope you can do that in vRA 6.0 environment by modifying the stub workflow . Please see below blog as an example.
