Based on URL Compatibility Matrixes for VMware Site Recovery Manager 6.1 Site Recovery Manager Server 6.1 runs on the same Windows host operating systems as vCenter Server 6.0 update 1, so see the supported host operating system here: VMware KB: Supported host operating systems for VMware vCenter Server installation (including vCente...

There is no appliance version for SRM and based on table above Windows 10 is not a supported host operating system.

Thank you very much for all the information. I see that Windows 10 professional is certainly not supported. I am however running vCenter 6 as a VM on the ESXi host. Do I need to create two VM's for windows 2008 server R2 and run SRM on them. Am confused. On the one hand it talks about the vCenter compatibility, but vCenter is running fine for me.

If this is just a lab and your vCenter is running on Windows (not the vCenter appliance) you can install SRM on the same virtual machine where vCenter is running, but if you're using vCSA and/or it is a production environment, you will need two virtual machines with Windows Server 2008 R2 or higher to install SRM on both virtual machines. Note: to use SRM, you will need two vCenter servers too.

This is a lab environment, I have downloaded the trial editions of the software and am trying to learn VMware. Please see attached. There is vCenter app running on an ESXi host and I am connecting to it via vSphere Web Client which is loaded on a Windows 10 professional system. I am still not clear how to install SRM<. Please pardon my ignorance.

You should install SRM on a Windows Server operating system, but based in what you have already done and asked, before try build a lab from scratch, my recommendation is that you use the VMware Hands On Labs that will include pre configured environment for learning and test purposes. Specifically for SRM, take a look at this lab: http://labs.hol.vmware.com/HOL/catalogs/lab/2080

Hi Richardson. That link to the 2080 Lab fails. Is there an alternative way of getting a better feel for SRM ?
