win10 host, issues with guest screen sizes

I upgraded to VMWare workstation 12 (12.1.1 build 3770994) and also upgraded the host from Win7x64 to Win10 x64. I'm now having two problems that I can't figure out.

1. a Win10 x32 guest does not provide the option to 'fit guest now' to the visible area (I like to keep the host task bar visible at the bottom of the screen and the VMWare menus at the top). I can use a variety of preset screen sizes on the guest, or go fullscreen, but cannot use the screen fit function (it is greyed out). Guest is set as Guest operating system MSWindows/Win7, since there is no Win10 option. There does not appear to be a way to manually set the desired resolution (1916x927)

2. I have a win7 x32 guest. Screen autofit works as expected. However, if the host goes into sleep mode, when it comes out the guest has resized and extends below the host's taskbar and I have to manually click view/fit guest now all over again.

Any thoughts on how to fix either or both of these problems?

Thanks!
