You mean it can be safely ignored until it fills up your tasks/events database and corrupts the vCenter database, like Infrastructure Navigator does in 5.5?

in a non-vsan envirnment, u can stop and disable the vsan health check service if u don't want to see this message anymore.

the world is calm again......

  1. service vmware-vsan-health stop
    Stopping Virtual SAN Health Service:
  2. Disable the Virtual SAN Health Service:
    chkconfig vmware-vsan-health off

Thanks for the tip hatricker.  It should be noted that the vmware-vsan-health service is on the vCenter server, not on the ESXi host as I had assumed.  On a Windows vCenter server the service display name is 'VMware Virtual SAN Health Service'.

Also, now you have to be willing to live with a vCenter alarm reminding you that the service is in an unknown (grey) status.  It's worth it to get rid of all these unnecessary tasks.
