VMware Workstation upgraded from 11.1.2 to 11.1.4 exposed a dhcp server on my host LAN

Today I upgraded my workstation 11.1.2 to the May 11.1.4 update. A couple hours later I was getting reports from others on the network that they were getting 192.168.153.x IP addresses instead of our normal IPs. Tracked the source down to my workstation that I'd just upgraded. I've uninstalled 11.1.4 and put 11.1.2 back and the problem is now resolved. Just curious if anyone else saw this behavior?

Hi,

Sorry that you ran into this issue!

To help us debug this issue, could you please post the networking configuration in VMware Workstation 11.1.2?

1. How many vmnets do the host have?

2. Which vmnet is enabled for DHCP server?

3. Maybe vmnets screenshot in virtual network editor and ipconfig output on host machine will help us debug this issue!

Thanks!

Since my host computer is what I use throughout the day, and it was causing chaos on our network, I immediately removed the update and put the old version back in place. When I get some time I can reinstall the update and check network settings after that to see if they change.

But here's how my setup appears now, prior to installing the 11.1.4 upgrade:

I've got 3 vmnet adapters on my host: vmnet0 (Bridged),  vmnet1 (Host-only) and vmnet8 (NAT).

All of my VMs are using bridged for their network adapter settings.

DHCP shows enabled for VMnet1 and VMnet8 only.

My ipconfig /all shows this:

I've reinstalled the 11.1.4 update and the problem is not occurring this time. Not sure what went wrong with the first install but it's fixed now, thanks!
