Missing OpenGL Texture Compression in Windows 7 guest

Host:

   Mid-2014 15" Retina MacBook Pro

   OSX 10.11.4

   VMWare Fusion Pro 8.1.1

I am trying to run a WorldWind Java-based application on a Windows 7 Professional guest under Fusion 8.1.1. I have enabled 3D Graphics Acceleration for the guest which claims to support DirectX 10 and OpenGL 3.3. When I run the application, however, I get a javax.media.opengl.GLException: DXTn compressed textures not supported by this graphics card.

Googling around, I see references to this error, but on Linux hosts and resolved by installing a texture compression library for Mesa. This is an OS X host, however, and from what I can tell, Texture Compression is supported by the hardware.

Anybody have an idea as to what is going on and how to fix it?

Thanks...

JR

Hi jruschmejruschme,

Would you please tell us the application name you are running in Windows 7 VM. I've just downloaded World Wind Java SDK 2.0 in my Windows 7 VM and ran the demo via command line 'run-demo.bat gov.nasa.worldwindx.examples.ApplicationTemplate' but I did not see any errors.

My test environment is almost the same with yours.
