How set Windows 10 docs to open using Mac apps

I have VM Fusion 8.1.1 running Windows 10 on MBP OSX. 

I'm trying to figure out how to set my docs, .xml, docx, etc., to use Mac apps but must be missing something.

In my VM settings, I have Open your Windows files and web links using Mac applications checked - not else is checked.

After making my change, I completely shut down the VM then restarted.  In Windows 10 I went to Choose Default Apps by File Type to choose the desired Mac app by file extension.  Only I don't see any VM or non-Windows options. In my other Mac, I have Windows 8 running and though on initial screen VM wasn't mentioned, I had a More Options link and found it there.  In Windows 10 I don't have the More Options link.  How do I set the default app to be a Mac app?
