Sorry Pam. I think it is time you spent the money to upgrade VMware Fusion. The current version is VMware Fusion 8. Version 5 will not run on the latest Mac operating system.
If you aren't sure, you can download and run the trial version of VMware Fusion 8 for 30 days. Make a backup copy of your virtual machine(s) first, just as a routine precaution.
