VMware evolution License

Hi All,

I have a ESXi server which was running on Evolution license and it just expired.

ESXi was managed by Vcenter hosted on same ESXi.

Now I am not able to renew evolution license with belo trick, please provide your suggestions.

rm -f /etc/vmware/vmware.lic /etc/vmware/license.cfg > Reboot

As per my information, If ESXi was connected to Vcenter hence above trick will not work. Please provide your suggestions.

Hi Situation is not as easy as you think, basically I want to restore my evalution licenses, I can not because ESXi was managed by vcenter on same host.

No I can not longer access Vcenter and I can not clear license files on ESXi.

If you have valid vCenter license, try to login to vCenter web client using SSO admin user.

What happen if you directly connect to esxi host.

Try removing vCenter agent from from esxi fro. Command line and then try to reconnect.

Or without vCenter, you can use free license to avoid such issues.

Thanks,

Haridas

well, I can not turn on any host on ESXi, the same ESXi is holding Vcenter.

Is there a CLI command on ESXi to dis-associate Vcenter with it ?

I understand the vCenter machine is down.

how many hosts did you have in vCenter before the evaluation mode got expired.

if you have the root credentials of the ESXi hosts logon to them directly using vSphere thick client and apply the licenses.

The ESXi license keys can be applied to the esxi hosts directly through the thick client, you don't need vCenter for that

once you apply the license to the ESXi host on which the vCenter is registered, power on the vCenter and apply the VC keys
