VM Workstation 12 and Shared Disks Only

This question is only for VM Workstation 12 and Server 2012 R2.

I am wanting to setup a server 2012 r2 failover cluster.

But first I need to have a shared drive for my two 2012 r2 servers.

How do I setup a shared disk for my two 2012 r2 servers in VM Workstation 12?

in short:
set

disk.locking = "FALSE"
in both vmx-files and use monolithicFlat and independant vmdks.
This featurew used to be quite stable years ago but nowadays it is "experimental"
Dont use it for anything important
