rebalance in vsan 5.5

Hi all,

We have vCenter 5.5 2442329 and ESXi 5.5 2638301

How can we do rebalance action for vsan 5.5 ?

vCenter 5.5 U2 does not have rebalance action in their command.

vCenter 6.0 have the command, but when trying to excute "vsan.proactive_rebalance -s 0", error message says that this command only works for host version 6.0 and above.

Need advice on these issues.

I don't think there is any way to do this in 5.5. As the error states, the proactive command was introduced in 6.0.

What will happen in 5.5 is that when you add new VMs, VSAN should deploy on the devices that have the most capacity.

Hi Cormac,

Any advice for us or other that facing this issues ?

Other than upgrade vsan to 6.0 ?

Nope - upgrading is the only way to go if you want to do proactive rebalancing (but upgrading gives you lots of other cool stuff too of course)
