obtain license key Vsphere 5.0

Hi,

Is there any way to get a license for Vspehere 5.0. The license key for 6.0 does not work on 5.0. It is now counting down from the 60 days.

Hi there,

If your 6.0 key is a purchased key then you will be able to opt to downgrade the key through License Management in MyVMware, you will then be issued a new key for 5.0 in replacement.

If you're talking about standalone ESXi then you can still choose to download/license 5.0 again via MyVMware, just click through to the vSphere ESXi Hypervisor and change the version you require in the little drop-down near the top of the page, click download next to the product and you'll get a license key.

Hi Martin,

Thank you very much for your answer. It's not a purchased key. I'm not quit sure where to download.

Under products>All Products>Vmware Vsphere - I DO get the dropdown. When choosing 5.0 and trying to download "Vmware Vsphere Client 5.0" I get the message:

"You either are not entitled or do not have permissions to download this product. etc..."

Or second: when going to products>trial and free products>vsphere hypervisor (all the way down on that page) I get to the page with my license key for 6 and some download packages with buttons 'manualy download' - but no dropdown regarding version numbers. (see image below)

No Problem Peter,

So sign into MyVMware then from the home page you should be able to select All Downloads from 'Quick Links' to the right of the window which will take you to the All Products download page.

From here find VMware vSphere Hypervisor (ESXi) under Datacenter & Cloud Infrastructure, and click View Download Components which should take you to the Download VMware vSphere Hypervisor (ESXi) page, which should have the Select Version: drop down box just under the heading which defaults to 6.0. 

Select 5.0 from this drop-down and the product should change to VMware vSphere Hypervisor 5.0.0 U3 which is the latest version of 5.0.  Click Download.

You will probably now see the VMware vSphere Hypervisor 5.5 Download Center, probably along with a message saying you're not registered for this product, if so click Register under the Log Out button in the Welcome box on the right and submit your details.

You'll then come back to the 5.5 download center, if you scroll down to the Download Packages section 5.5 will be expanded, keep going and you'll find all previous 5.x versions for download.  The key listed in the License Information section will work for any of these versions.
