Unable to set Default Gateway in ESXi6.0.0 Update 1

Hi Team,

I am recently configured esxi 6.0.0 update1a on a Dell Poweredge M915 server. When i configuring IP address and gateway from DCUI I am getting below error , I dont know why .

Enable Management Network Error:

Setting default gateway failed unable to set vmkernel gateway address to  X.X.X.X as there are no VMkernel interfaces on the same network with that IP address.

Please help.

Try setting the mask of the host to /24 (255.255.255.0), then the Management Network IP and Gateway IP will be on the same network.

It sounds as if the ESXi IP (Management Network IP) is not on the same Broadcast Domain as the gateway.

What's the IP and Subnet Mask of the gateway and what's the IP and mask of the Management Network?

The Management IP and Gateway IPs are not on the same network.

IP: 10.211.40.141

Subnetmask: 255.255.255.192

Network:10.211.40.128/26

First: 10.211.40.129

Last: 10.211.40.128

Gateway: 10.211.40.1
