Problem with vCenter 5.5u3 & NSX 6.1

Hi,

I have update vCenter Appliance to 5.5u3 and now I'm unable to look a my «NSX Edges» from vCenter, I have «This list is empty» when I click on «NSX Edges» everything else is working.

it seem to be a display bug.

Anybody have this or can help my to fix this problem?

Thanks

One thing to check is whether or not the account you are using to authenticate to the vSphere Web Client has the appropriate permissions on those Edge appliances.

Also, the release notes for 6.1.x report the following as an issue.  Might want to try these steps:

After upgrading NSX from version 6.0 to 6.0.x or 6.1, NSX Edges are not listed on the UI
When you upgrade from NSX 6.0 to NSX 6.0.x or 6.1, the vSphere Web Client plug-in may not upgrade correctly. This may result in UI display issues such as missing NSX Edges.
This issue is not seen if you are upgrading from NSX 6.0.1 or later.
Workaround: Follow the steps below.

    1. On the vSphere Server, navigate to the following location:
      /var/lib/vmware/vsphere-client/vc-packages/vsphere-client-serenity
    2. Delete the following folders:
      com.vmware.vShieldManager-6.0.x.1546773
      com.vmware.vShieldManager-6.0.1378053
    3. Restart the vSphere Web Client service.
This ensures deployment of the latest plug-in package.

Thanks for your help!

The permissions are OK and I only have those files on vSphere Server:

drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 Feb 18  2015 com.vmware.vShieldManager-6.1.2.2318232

drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 Feb 27  2015 com.vmware.vcHms-5.6.0.551667021

drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 Feb  4  2015 com.vmware.vcIntegrity-5.5.0.22432

drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 Feb  4  2015 com.vmware.vcops-5.8.3.2076729

Just for test I have re-register NSX Manager to a vCenter 5.5 not U3 and NSX Edges reappear.

Please verify below path

  1. On the vSphere Server, navigate to the following location:
    /var/lib/vmware/vsphere-client/vc-packages/vsphere-client-serenity
  2. Delete the following folders:
    com.vmware.vShieldManager-6.0.x.1546773
    com.vmware.vShieldManager-6.0.1378053
  3. Restart the vSphere Web Client service.

Am I understanding correctly that after registering NSX Manager to a different vCenter Server, running vCenter 5.5 with no updates, that the NSX edge appliance are now visible?

Yes but it was only for test!

Is it the same NSX Manager?

Do those Edge VMs reside in the non-U3 vCenter?

Have you restarted the vSphere Web Client service since the issue has occurred?

Yes!

I have also update an other environment to U3 and I have the same result, no more NSX Edges after update.

vSphere 5.5 U3 will be supported with the next NSX 6.1.x update release.

In the VMware Product Interoperability Matrixes it's supported.

I have open an SR and VMware is working on that.

I had to upgrade NSX 6.1.2 to 6.1.4 because of a know issue (undocumented) with 6.1.2 and 5.5u3.

Thanks all
