RDM - Vmotion and Storage Vmotion

Hi Team,

              I would like to setup RDM for my cluster server and i want to perform both vmotion and storage vmotion.

please let me know the what are the setting has been done in the vm level. like scsi controller and HDD type like physical and virtual compatibility mode.

Add RDM in Virtual Compatibility mode , this would allow migration and creation of Snapshots in VM.

But if you say vmotion n svmotion make sure you do svmotion live.

If you perform svmotion cold migration then rdm pointer file will get converted to vmdk.

we are facing same similar issue

You can't vMotion RDM with physical compatibility mode, you can vMotion without any issues if Virtual Compatibility mode.

Not an issue , its just that you are provided with different features all you need to do is choose correct as per your requirement.

Physical compatibility works well in linux have a look at eg for reference Change of UUID in Linux VM with attached RDM

             I have done some setting in scsi controller and hardisk and set both as virtual mode only then also i am getting error which is attached here.
