I/O performance issues when sending large files over LAN (home lab).

Hey peeps,

I installed 6.0 on my server last night and tried to send a large 20Gb file to my 2012 R2 server VM via SMB (shares), the modified RAM goes up and then my file transfer goes from 112Mb/s to like 5-20Mb/s. (I have attached a capture of the issue). Basically I will get full Gbit and once my free RAM reaches 0 (due to high modified use) the transfer throttles down. This only happens on Vsphere as when I have my server set up with Hyper-V I do not get this issue at all and can happy send 500Gb+ at full speed.

My storage setup consists of x1 2TB WD Green ( the drive in question) x1 128Gb SSD (runs esxi + VM) x1 500Gb HDD. I know the issue is not with the 2TB drive as I have said above I can do this perfectly in Hyper-V or just stright 2012 install.

Ran Crystalmark with a 1Gb filesize with 5 waves:

avg read : 120.7 avg write: 133.1

So well over the 112Mb/s of Gbit.

I have tried using v5.5 and still have the same issue, I am using the HP image to install so I dont believe it to be a driver issue. I have also tried disabling all offloading on the NIC inside the VM with no joy.

Im at a loss as to how to fix this issue...

Im using a HP Proliant Gen 8 Microserver.
