Update a linked clone

Hello all, I'm running Workstation 10 and in the process of making a few levels of linked clones. I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to 'push' an update to my linked clones from the parent? i.e. if I install a new piece of software have it updated on all the linked clones. Does this exist within Workstation or am I asking too much!!

that's unfortunately not possible. Linked clones are basically snapshots, which contain modified data blocks. Modifying the parent virtual disk will render the clones useless, so you will need to either apply the updates on each clone separately, or delete the clones, update the software and re-create the clones (which however will result in the loss of individual changes in the existing clones).

That's too bad.

I did a bit of searching and saw something called VMware View? It looked like there was a 'Recompose' option? Sounds like what I'm looking for and one have experience with this?
