RDM performance testing

Dear all,

I would like to ask help with this issue.

We have environment with, among others, two ESX 5.5 hosts hosting MS SQL cluster (Microsoft Windows server 2012).

Cluster uses RDMs as shared disks. There is performance issue on this cluster.

VNX 5500 and FCoE is used in system.

In this moment PSP is set to Fixed.

I would like to change PSP to RR and do all necessary testing to be sure RR is working OK.

I am opening this query because following: some time ago I have set RR to all RDMs in cluster. I did testing using IOmeter and esxtop.

IOmeter shows a lot of write errors when RR is set, only on one disk (that disk holds database). When Fixed PSP is set, there are no errors.

Esxtop doesn't show anomalies no matter which policy is set.

I need advice: how I could test IO performance from guest OS when RR is set?

Can anyone suggest best way to test performance of RDM disk? (beside esxtop)

Does anyone knows why would IOmeter show write errors only when RR is set (when Fixed is set, there are no errors) only on one disk?

IOmeter csv attached.

Any advice is welcome.

Best regards

Goran
