VMnet 3 not appearing after update

I'm currently running Vmware Workstation 11. I have recently updated the program and since the update I have been unable to select "vmnet3" from the network adapter drop-down box. The only options I am given is VMnet0, VMnet1. and VMnet8. The OS I'm am trying to virtualize is Windows 2008 Server Enterprise edition. My host computer is running Windows 7.

I believe you are talking about vmxnet 3 (NIC type). if yes. Than you can select it once you build your vm and select the network adapter in to settings of the nic.

if No : Then i believe you created your vmnet3 Network manually and its not any more there. if this is the situation you need to go to the vmware workstation> network editor page and create a new Network with your desired settings in to it.

in workstation by default only vmnet0, 1, 8 is automatically configured.

I did not create the VMnet I am speaking of. It was out of a list of pre-made VMnets. I was able to pull a screenshot of the list of VMnets I am speaking of through my laptop. My laptop is currently running version 11.0.0 build 2305329. 3.PNG

Thats strange.

As i have the same version installed in my desktop and i have the default vmnet 0,1,8 available. Even i restored the network configuration  from virtual network editor and they rebuild again. Vmnet 3 was not on the list.

I am quite sure your vmnet3 was some custom configuration created on it.

Just tested by adding vmnet3 in Virtual network editor and found its comes up with the host-only network connection.

I must say to add a new network called vmnet 3 like i did and configured it as you want.

sharing the screenshot with you.
