Can vCenter upgrade take more than 3 hours?

I started vCenter upgrade to upgrade a vCenter 5.0 VM to vCenter 5.5 u2.

The vCenter is a Windows Server 2008 R2 VM with 8 cores and 16 GB RAM.

The vSphere infrastructure have about 500 VMs.

The upgrade process is taking more than 3 hours.

During the upgrade about 20 GB of additional disk space were taken and SP1 of SQL was installed, but the process is still running with a very limited CPU and disk activity.

If I stop the upgrade and revert the VM to the snapshot taken before starting the upgrade how can I investigate the problem because the upgrade failed?

Regards

Marius
