Moving licenses around to different machines or hosts

If I purchase a vsphere license pack, can I feel free to move the licenses around to different machines or hosts?

If there an activation / deactivation process?

If I wipe a machine and want to use that same license on the same machine, can I free install a new version of esxi?

Hi,

as far as I know there is no online activation in ESXi. If the license purchased (e.g. Essentials Kit) is for 3 hosts for example, you just have to keep an eye on the amount of hosts you install the key on.

You may always remove the license from a host putting it back into evaluation mode (or even enter a free license key) and then use the license key on another host.

Hi,

ESXi and vCenter licenses don't need an activation.

In your case you can reinstall the host and use the same license again.
