          Hello,

You don't mention which lab you are taking.  That would help.

I tried the commands in HOL-SDC-1402 (Distributed Switch) and HOL-SDC-1410 What's New vSphere 6.

In both cases it worked for me.  I opened a PuTTy session as root with password VMware1!

          I used esx-01a.corp.local.

          # /etc/init.d/hostd stop

          # /etc/init.d/hostd start

After configuring the cluster for vSphere HA,

          # /etc/init.d/vmware-fdm stop

          # /etc/init.d/vmware-fdm start

In HOL-SDC-1410, I needed to path to the script directly because the symbolic link did not work from the command line:

          # /etc/opt/init.d/vmware-fdm restart

          Cheers!

          Bill

Firstly, Thanks a lot for Reply Bill.

I resolved this problem after 1 hour and forgot to mention here . The problem was because of a mistake in my command.

            I was typing

            etc/init.d/ hostd restart

There was a space  between / and host due to which it was showing permission denied error.
