VCenter and SSO Database

Dear Team,

We are using external dedicated Database Server

During VCenter SSO installation RSA Database got created using the script (RSA_DATA.mdf,RSA_INDEX.ndf,translog.ldf)and pointed the SSO to it

Now During the installation of VCenter we pointed this also to RSA,the installation got completed.

Is this ok to have the above set up, will any issue arise in future?

In  future if we need to change to a diff DB for VCenter alone  is it possible to make the change?

Please  suggest

Also one query is it ok to have SSO on the default SQL instance bundled rather than pointing to an external DB? as for VCenter it shows that there is a restriction on VM counts on the default Database SQL express edition

Thanks

Hi,

are you still on vCenter 5.1?

Because in vCenter 5.5, SSO was redone and it doesn't use the RSA database anymore.

So you just throw SSO and vCenter in the same database?

I don't think this is a supported configuration. I would suggest to use the upcoming version 6.0 as a chance to do a fresh install then.

Hi Tim,

Yes 5.1 U3,we have put both SSO and VCentre on same RSA. will it create any problems?

So even if we redo on 6 how to get the DB moved( which has SSO and VCenter) to another DB which will have only VCenter, also we have 1000v Switches- VDS

Thanks
