ESXi 5.5 - Server 2012 R2 - Unable to shutdown after adding to domain

Hi All,

I have a Windows Server 2012 R2 virtual machine on ESXi 5.5. When I add it to the domain and it asks for a reboot, I the click reboot and it sticks at 'Notifying services that Windows is shutting down' (jpeg attached). I have many Server 2012 vms on the domain that work well.

I have forcefully shutdown, the event viewer after the event doesn't show any issues. Subsequent shut downs stop at the same message. i even left it to run over a whole weekend and it didn't move past this message.

Does anyone know any reasoning for this.

Regards

David

Hi Thanks for this, None of their suggestions work though i'm afraid. The server shuts down fine when its in a workgroup but as soon as I put it on the domain it sticks at this message.

Had the same problem with both 2008R2 and 2012R2,

until i disabled the "Clear virtual memory pagefile" setting in GPO.
