what db are you using (local,external,SQL std or express) and what are the rights for the associated user account that has acces to the db ?

In the meantime I solved the problem. The problem was caused by a missing right (sysadmin) on the instance of the SQL Server. This right is mandatory for installing (updating) the mirage database on a sql standard edition.
So correct answer then
