Cannot Migration P2V or V2V via VCenter Converter Standalone

I have a problem in vmware migration of Symantec endpoint server into VMware vCenter Converter Standalone via VMWare Client.

I've done a variety of ways such as P2V converter error appears like this:
Failed: A general system error occurred:
No connection could be made the target machine Because The actively refused it.

Another way to V2V, I try to backup first target server using Hiren's boot CD v.15 with Acronis backup tool to a file extension *.tib, when there is an error converting process like this:
FAILED: A general system error occurred: The server closed the connection after 0 response bytes read; <io_obj p: 0x012260ac, h: 1004, <pipe '\\. \ pipe \ vmware-converter-worker-soap'>, <pipe '\\. \ pipe \ vmware-converter-worker-soap' >>

Surprisingly the C drive is always successful in cloning, but the E drive always failed. E drive contents contained symantec endpoint installer. Been tried scandisk drive E, the result is zrero bad sectors.

anyone can help?

Before start the P2V using VMware Converter, do you disabled all non-Microsoft and non-VMware Converter services and rebooted the server using msconfig ?

Another workaround is try P2V only C: drive first and after finish the C: conversion, start another one only with E:.

Note: the conversion with drive E: may fail saying that reconfiguration is not possible, but ignore this message, remove the VM created on E: conversion, but do not delete from datastore, after go to VM created on C: conversion and attach the drive E: created.

Dear Richardson,

Before start the P2V using VMware Converter, do you disabled all non-Microsoft and non-VMware Converter services and rebooted the server using msconfig ?

Not yet, Can I disable all non-microsoft and non-vmware converter service on VMWare Vcenter Converter or disable all non-microsoft and non-vmware converter service on a physical server?

Another workaround is try P2V only C: drive first and after finish the C: conversion, start another one only with E:.

How to clone drives separately on vmware converter? because I do not find menu / option for cloning drives one by one

Note: the conversion with drive E: may fail saying that reconfiguration is not possible, but ignore this message, remove the VM created on E: conversion, but do not delete from datastore, after go to VM created on C: conversion and attach the drive E: created.

Ooooh.. I use the VM Client, and then remove the VM created on E: conversion, such as question number two, how?

Before that, I will try your referrals.

On the physical server... VMware recommends this, check this KB article: VMware KB:    Best practices for using and troubleshooting VMware Converter

Run the System Configuration Utility(msconfig) on the source server to reduce the number of services and applications running on startup, all software except for All Microsoft Services and VMware Converter Service. For more information, see Using the Windows System Configuration utility (1004010).

About the another workaround, please do the tip above first and if this not work, we can try the another one.

Dear Richardson,

I can't stopped all symantec service, there is one symantec services can't stopped like as services.jpg, when I run the converting, there are warnings like as image Untitled1.jpg and the overall process fails.

I try another way, I try remote machine and create image VMware Workstation 10.0.x from VMware Vcenter Converter, and then I select a location for the virtual machine to my computer and the overall process fails like as Untitled2.jpg :smileyconfused:

FAILED: An error occurred during the conversion: 'File-level volume clone error failed with sourcevolume id \WindowsBitmapDriverVolumeId=[2A-C3-D2-2B-00-7E-00-00-00-00-00-00] and target volume id :23,2-;20000010000000000. Error code: 31'

Now, I success create image VMware Workstation 10.0.x from Powered-On Machine via VMware Vcenter Converter, just convert drive C: and drive 😧 without drive E:. I'll try to create new VM and fresh install symantec endpoint on VM. I hope it clear.

Any idea?
