Error 2894 during Windows XP install of Server

    todd-owen Lurker

When I install the latest Server version (28343), after I click the first "Next" button, I receive a pop-up saying:

      Error 2894.Internal Error 2894. 126[/b]

After clicking "OK" the pop-up disappears and the "Finish" button appears.  If I press it, the installer closes cleanly, but with nothing installed.

I am logged in as an Administrator and this is the first version of Server I've tried to install on this machine.  I've been using Server on another XP box ever since it was released earlier this year.  Any ideas?

Can you post the contents of the %temp%\vmmsi.log file.  This should give us an idea why the windows installer was not able to install properly.

The file RichEd20.dll was missing from the Windows\System32 folder.  Apparantly some spyware programs flag this file and delete it.

              I downloaded a copy from www.dll-download.net/riched20.html

              Install proceeded normally afterwards.
