Can't start VMWare VirtualCenter service

Hi All,

Having issue when trying to start the above service.  I get the following error message when attempting to:

Windows could not start the VMWare VirtualCenter Server on local computer.  Error code 2.

Event viewer states the following:

The VMWare VirtualCenter Server Service terminated with the service-specific error 2 (0x2)

Event ID:  7024

I have attached the VPXD.log file where I notice there is an error with 'vpxdvpxdmain' init failed:Unexpected exception

I'd gratefully except any help with this.

Doug

Got it up and running again.  I had to restart the VCenter Single Sign On service before trying to start the VC server service.

Cheers for the help.

Check if this KB article helps: VMware KB: vCenter Server fails when forced encryption is enabled on the database

Hi,

Thank you for the reply.  I have tried that and encryption is already set to 'No'.  I have also tried restarting all SQL services, shrinking the file size of the log, changing the service logon account.

Anything else I could try?

Thanks,

Doug

Hey, thanks for the reply.  TCP is enabled.  What should I be looking for under the SQL user accounts?

Cheers,

Doug

We have our vCenter service set to delayed automatic start so that all the other services have enough time to get up and running.
